Project Details:
After detailed planning and support to the project team, another of our projects is nearing completion. The project in Ipswich is another “make ready” ambulance hub, part of the Government’s upgrading and improving healthcare facilities scheme.
The project cost around £13 million with funding from both the Department of Health and the East of England Ambulance Service (EEAST). It is set to include a fully integrated vehicle preparation and repair area, with the goal of keeping clean and maintained ambulances on the road. The site also includes a car park, cycle shelter, and welfare spaces for staff.
Despite some minor issues during planning, final plans were approved by the Ipswich Borough Council for the site which will help support 97 members of staff and improve the efficiency of blue light services in the area.
While planning approval was granted in April 2024, work began more recently and the keys have been handed over to the NHS Trust. The project is expected to become fully operational in late September 2025. During the development, sustainability was a key focus with the hub incorporating smart technologies and photovoltaic (PV) panels. The official opening for the new hub is now planned for October.
The project is being hailed as a great success. It has been delivered on time and within budget and will hopefully improve the ambulance system within Ipswich.
