During last summer we completed a modular school building project at Meadow Primary School in Epsom, Surrey.

A few months earlier we discussed the concept of off-site construction and the benefits associated with modular buildings many of which were evident in this Meadow Primary project. For example, off-site buildings can be made wind and weather-tight more rapidly because they have been partially assembled, thus minimising the risk of damage from the elements during the building process. In addition the more precise nature of the factory manufacturing process and much improved quality control methods mean fewer snagging defects.

Quick to complete but guaranteed to last many years, with a 25 year roof guarantee in this case, these low-cost, pre-fabricated modular school buildings can be installed over the school holidays to minimise noise and disruption to school life. This was a key consideration for the school who needed to remove an old, unsuitable building from the site during the summer holiday and have the new building operational before the start of the Autumn term.

We managed the project from initial specification, planning and contractor tendering through to project managing the installation and final fit out. The modular school building was constructed in 6 sections over 3.5 weeks at the manufacturer’s factory whilst the old building was being removed and new foundations installed. Each module was delivered to the school site on a single day complete with sockets, data points, kitchen and bathroom tiling and units.

Made from the highest quality, sustainable materials, today’s luxury modular classrooms are comfortable, state-of-the-art facilities with a modern, good looking appearance.

If your school is looking to improve its education facilities within a limited time-frame and budget then a modular, pre-fabricated building might offer the ideal solution.
