East Wittering and Bracklesham Parish Council approached Chawton Hill Chartered Surveyors to design a new Youth and Community Building predominantly for use by the Girl Guides Movement, the UK’s leading charity for girls and young women.
The brief for the Community Building included;
- a badminton/multipurpose Community Hall for recreational use
- a Youth Hall for use by the Girl Guides
- a kitchen with cooking facilities
- washroom, changing and showering facilities
- storage rooms and an office
We were presented with a greenfield site on Downview Recreation Ground with funding for the complete being provided by the local Woodger Trust as an enhancement to the Witterings community.
Chawton Hill successfully designed the building, gained planning consent, tendered the project and appointed a Contractor. Throughout the construction phase, Chawton Hill acted as Employers Agent to oversee the construction of the Design and Build project.
The building is now in occupation and the Girl Guides have had their first meeting. As tenants, the Girl Guides Movement has hired the hall for a range of activities including Pilates.
