This commitment is reflected in our latest project in New Malden, where Chawton Hill has been appointed to support the refurbishment of youth temporary accommodation. On behalf of the Royal Borough of Kingston, we are working collaboratively with non-profit organisation Achieving for Children.
The Project
The project will help improve the living environment for young people by delivering upgrades throughout the property. These include the replacement of kitchenettes and carpets within each bedroom, refurbishment of the communal kitchen and three communal bathrooms. The four-bed property will have no change to the floor plan or the exterior appearance.
The project has involved coordination between Chawton Hill, the Royal Borough of Kingston and the contractor’s team. We needed to ensure the design and decision-making process will deliver the best possible outcome for the young people who will use the space.
Chawton Hill has prepared the project documentation ready for tender and is acting as contract administrator and project manager. Working alongside organisations such as Achieving for Children is something we are particularly proud of.
Achieving for Children
The charity is jointly owned by the Royal Borough of Kingston upon Thames, the London Borough of Richmond, and the Royal Borough of Windsor & Maidenhead. It supports children and young people to live safe, happy, healthy and successful lives. They strive to achieve excellence in everything they do by putting children and young people first in the design, delivery, and evaluation of the services they provide. Values which strongly align with Chawton Hill’s own commitment to supporting communities through the built environment.
