We have supported a number of building projects with block management specialists, White & Sons since we featured them in our Partner Profile just over a year ago.
The latest one completed in July, a full month earlier than scheduled, is the re-roofing of a block of flats at Downswood Court East in Reigate.
The previous felt roof system had perished and degraded in a number of areas over its 20-year life. Multiple patch repairs had started to fail, causing water ingress into the building.
Following a managed four-way tender, our recommended solution was to use an innovative over-roofing product. This would provide a new surface to the entire roof section. In turn, the solution delivers better than specified protection from the elements and provided a guarantee of 20 years.
The works carried out by HAC Roofing also allowed us to include an additional layer of insulation to dramatically increase thermal efficiency within the property.
The system installed was from Danosa, Europe’s 6th largest waterproofing firm. They recently launched into the UK providing synthetic, bituminous and liquid waterproofing, thermal insulation and acoustic products, as well as an extensive range of geotextiles, drainage & roof lights.
The product employed was from their asphaltic sheet range and comprised of a reinforcement covered on both sides with a bituminous mastic of polymer-modified bitumen. The application was a straightforward process and this was a major factor in the improved completion time.
If you manage a property or are involved in block management, this re-roofing solution is both cost-effective and a dramatic improvement on older-style roofing products. Talk to one of our RICS Chartered Building Surveyors today.
