David Edwards | Managing Director
David Edwards has a wealth of Project Management and Employer’s Agent experience. He has previously worked as a Senior Surveyor and Team Manager before becoming a Director of Chawton Hill Associates Ltd. He is involved with all of our clients and specialises in the Health and Education sectors of the business.
David has been central in the successful development of the Make Ready System for preparing and re-stocking emergency vehicles. This innovative solution frees critical emergency staff to focus on patient care.
Stephen Holmes | Head of Business Development
Steve Holmes has many years of experience in the building industry and has worked on a diverse range of building and development projects. He has been involved in team management and business development for a range of companies and has now focused his attention on the exciting challenges that Chawton Hill Associates Ltd creates.
As a Founder he maintains close contact with clients, and follows each project through to completion. He is involved in the careful selection of project teams and always enjoys the challenge that construction work brings.
James Matthewson | Associate Director Professional Services/Surveys
James is a skilled and proficient Chartered Building Surveyor. He has a wealth of experience in residential work and is an expert in Party Wall matters and in dealing with insurance and loss adjusters to assist with our client’s claims. He has excellent Project Management skills and is a calm and confident person to have in our team.
Abigail Peters | Building Surveyor
Abigail (Abi) is an experienced and dedicated Building Surveyor who has a wealth of Building Control knowledge together with an excellent technical knowledge and CAD skills. As a new member of our team she is involved in a wide range of projects and is working as Employers Agent and on some of our larger projects.
David May | Clerk of Works
David is a very experienced building professional and has managed a number of successful companies prior to joining us.
He is also a seasoned hand at spotting construction problems and works well with any on site team to ensure that each construction project is a safe.
David has worked with Chawton Hill Associates since our inception in 2002 and is a valued and respected team member.
Andrew Stott | Building Surveyor
Andrew has a BSc (Hons) degree in Building Surveying and the Environment and is a Certified member of the British Institute of Facilities Managers.
Andrew brings experience from the educational and retail sectors in Facilities Management and Health and Safety. He is IOSH certified by ROSPA and by combining his technical knowledge, client liaison experience and green building expertise, he is able to smoothly guide our clients throughout the construction process.
Cathal McGuigan | Building Surveyor
Cathal has a BSc (Hons) degree in Building Surveying and a Diploma in Industrial Studies.
Cathal has experience of working in a multi-disciplinary company where he designed, specified and ran projects on site as well as undertaking a range of surveys and services for mostly public sector clients.
Paul Summers | Building Surveyor Middlesex
Paul is a member of the Chartered Institute of Building, the Chartered Association of Building Engineers and is an Associate Member of RICS.
Paul brings over 30 years of surveying and loss adjuster experience to Chawton Hill specialising in recent years with subsidence fire and flood restoration projects as well as building surveys, party wall matters and schedules of condition.
Paul covers North and West London and the Northern Home Counties to complement our Gloucester, Sussex and Surrey regions.
John Metcalfe | Building Surveyor Sussex
John is a member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors within the Building Surveying Division and has a B.Sc degree in Building.
He has gained wide experience of surveying and maintaining residential properties of all ages and types of construction, including listed buildings. John also has had considerable similar involvement with commercial, healthcare and public buildings, having been responsible for all aspects of maintenance from the diagnosis of defects to specifying and supervising subsequent improvements and repairs.
John covers the Sussex region to complement our established North London, Gloucester and Surrey regions.
Mark Knight | Building Surveyor Surrey & Gloucester
Mark is a member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors, Building Surveying Division and holds a Diploma in Surveying from the College of Estate Management at Reading University. He is also an ECO accredited Surveyor having completed the Energy Companies Obligation training with the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors.
Mark has experience in both residential and commercial property surveys, valuation works and completion of the RICS Building Survey report. He has also undertaken works in the Building Insulation field, property management, investigation works, Schedules of Condition and Dilapidations
Mark covers the Gloucester region on a Monday and Friday and supports our HQ Surrey building surveyors for the rest of the week to complement our established North London and Sussex regions.

Kimberley Weston | Director’s PA
Kimberley became a member of the Chawton Hill team as a Personal Assistant to both Directors, after previous personal assistant roles, including working for another Chartered Surveyors for 4 years. Kimberley’s key roles are meeting and greeting clients, managing all incoming telephone calls to our surveyors and providing administrative support. In addition, she manages the building survey side of the business and is involved in providing quotations, booking surveys with Estate Agents and Clients and preparing high quality reports.
Sue Fleming | Survey/Project PA
Sue has over 16 years experience in various administration and assistant roles in blue chip companies such as Arthur Andersen, Deloitte and most recently Robert Dyas.
Trained as a private secretary with RSA shorthand and typing qualifications, Sue will be supporting our expanding regional building surveyor programme. He key roles include providing customer quotations, booking surveys with Estate Agents and Clients and preparing high quality building survey reports.
Bridgit Winn-Taylor | Finance
Bridgit is an enthusiastic and versatile key person in our business. Her job involves handling our Practise Accounts, invoicing, project forecasting and cash flow management.
We have updated our accountancy package and Bridgit is the driver of this process and is actively involved in maintaining and developing the wonders of our new systems.
