We have a strong track record in Primary Medical Centres, having acted as Employers Agent, Quantity Surveyor & Principal Designer on over 15 in recent years.
The government’s 2019 manifesto re-stated its target of building 300,000 homes a year by the mid-2020s. Importantly it also pledged to make sure these homes were ‘built in a way that makes sense for the people already living in the area and for the families moving in‘ ie Infrastructure first, including a new £10 billion Single Housing Infrastructure Fund to help deliver – roads, schools & GP Surgeries.
If we assume an average 2.3 residents per dwelling & a target of over a million new homes by the end of this parliament, then the need for increased local infrastructure is very clear. None more so when you consider research conducted in 2015 by the Health & Social Care Information Centre, that showed the average population per GP practice in the UK was already 6,884 patients. New Primary Medical Centres will form a key part of the new Housing Infrastructure Fund.
We are therefore delighted to be appointed as Employers Agent, Quantity Surveyor & Principal Designer to two major housing development schemes to provide them with new Primary Medical Centres.
The first is Acton Gardens, a £600 million scheme of 3,400 new homes in W3, including 800m ² of primary care space.
The second is part of the re-development of St James Quarter in Walthamstow, E17.
The scheme is a 60 residential unit to include a 1,500m ² Primary Medical Centre.
If you are looking at delivering on Section 106 planning agreements and the Community Infrastructure Levy in housing schemes, we have excellent experience in the provision of vital Primary Medical Centres.
